Episode 22 August 11, 2018
Welcome to The Weekly Option, a weekly program that offers practical trades and discussion for beginners and professionals alike.
The world is still closely watching for news from Washington DC. The tariffs that have been proposed are significant to the global economy, affecting the flows of goods and services as well as capital. On Friday we saw Turkey’s currency have a 20% sell off based on one tweet about possible tariffs. Maybe we should discuss currency options on this podcast.
That being said, if there’s a company or a topic you’d like for me to address, just let me know!
After five consecutive weeks of slightly higher values each week, we finally are seeing a week of slightly lower prices. Both the Dow and the S&P finished the week less than 1% lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Index finished the week 149 points lower, closing at 25,313 points. The S&P 500 Index declined a whole 7 points to end the week at 2,833 points.
We are looking forward to earnings from the following companies: Home Depot on Tuesday, Macy’s on Wednesday, JC Penney, Nordstrom, and Walmart on Thursday, and John Deere & Company on Friday.
In this episode we discuss the results from last week’s trades on Zillow Group, Caterpillar, MetLife and GoPro.
We then discuss the trades for this week on YELP, Dillard’s, the IWM ETF, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
