After a volatile week, with significant drops and pullbacks, the market is essentially ending the week relatively flat. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ending the week up 104 points, finishing at 25,444 points. The S&P 500 Index rose less than a point week over week, ending at 2,767 points
This week there are 703 companies announcing earnings. For those of you who don’t track stock movement around their earnings are missing an opportunity. For instance, last week I mention Proctor and Gamble announcing earnings on Thursday evening, yesterday. Today the stock rose $7 per share. That’s nearly 9% on a blue chip in one day!!! PayPal and several others also had huge moves post-earnings!
On Monday we’ll hear quarterly earnings from TD Ameritrade, Hasbro and Haliburton. On Tuesday, 3M, JetBlue, McDonald’s, Caterpillar, and Texas Instruments will announce. Wednesday will bring Aflac, AT&T, Boeing, Boston Scientific, Ford, and Equifax. Thursday is a big day, with 267 publicly traded companies announcing. I’ll listen for Amazon, Altria Group, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Valero, ConocoPhillips, Mattel, and Twitter. And on Friday, Colgate-Palmolive and Moody’s will announce quarterly earnings.
In this week’s show, we will cover the trades from last week on CNX Resources, SPDR S&P 500 ETF, and US Oil Fund ETF.
And we discuss three new trades on Caesars Entertainment, Advanced Micro Devices, and Ebay.
