THE WEEKLY OPTION
The Weekly Option, an option trading podcast, provides trades each week that can be executed in your portfolio for not much capital. The show is hosted by Eric Lewis, an ex-floor trader at the CBOE. He also spent 10 years in commodity trading after earning an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Eric is both a great trader and a great teacher. The podcast offers a weekly dose of option trading education that is useful to beginners and professional traders alike.
WHAT IS DISCUSSED EACH SHOW
The Weekly Option is a podcast with weekly trade ideas and trade review. It’s essentially a free option trading class each week, using real market data. The show starts off with a brief summary of the market performance for the week. By tracking the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index, we get a broad and focused view of the equity markets in the United States.
We also cover a topic of the week, which pertains to option trading. Often times the topic is something that was asked by one of the listeners via email during the week. If the question applies to many traders, I share the answer as a Topic of the Week. We discuss three strategies: covered calls, credit spreads, and debit spreads. For many of our listeners, the trading review helps them understand the mindset of an option trader. The goal is always to make money while limiting risk. The new trades use real prices to give listeners a starting point for new trades each week.
WHEN IS THE PODCAST
A new episode of the podcast is posted each weekend. The episode is typically posted on Saturday morning. Each show uses end of week market data, posted after close on Friday, to discuss new trades and to review the trades from the previous show. Each podcast lasts approximately 25 minutes.
WHERE TO FIND THE PODCAST
The podcast is posted on several podcast platforms. It is on iTunes, google play, stitcher, podbean, playerfm. The links to each platform are provided in the show description. We also share the podcast via our YouTube channel.
LEARN TO TRADE OPTIONS
The podcast is a great way to learn to trade options. We cover simple trade ideas each week. We also give in depth explanations of risk to help listeners have a mindset that is strategic and methodical. The focus of each trade is profit. The show does not use the option Greeks to discuss risk. Because of this, the level of confusion is reduced. We talk about two things, maximum gains and maximum loss.
IS OPTION TRADING TOO HARD
In our experience, most people lose money trading options because they don’t understand risk. They don’t know when risk is working against them and when it is working in their favor. Using options in your trading strategy gives you a tool to manage and limit risk that is far beyond just trading stock alone. It doesn’t matter whether you are starting with a huge amount of risk capital or very limited. The trades on this show can be executed for a limited amount of capital and the spread trades have limited risk. So it’s great for millionaires and those aspiring to be, alike. Follow us on this journey to become a better trader. Whether you are just starting out, or you do this everyday, this show will make you a better trader. Subscribe today.
